Publisher: Kajima Institute Publishing ISBN: 9784306046269 Format: Softcover, 296pp, 190x260mm
Maki and Associates, the office of Pritzker Prize winner Fumihiko Maki, celebrated its 50th anniversary in 2015, and in celebration they published this volume along with hosting an eponymous exhibit to commemorate the occasion. As such, this book is a record of the broader context of the office’s half-century of design activity, its priorities and interests, and the social character that its works have subsequently achieved.
Reproduced here are a wealth of images, including photos of realised projects, architectural images from early stages in the design process, and drawings, sketches, and diagrams. Together with essays and personal insights from Maki himself, it presents a rich history of this seminal architect.
