Publisher: Grafiche Ruggero 1994 Author: Giorgio Trebbi Format: Softcover, 72pp, 245x210mm
The Chiesa di Riola – the Church of the Assumption of Mary – is located in Riola, a village in the province of Bologna, Italy. It was designed by renowned Finnish architect Alvar Aalto, with construction beginning in 1975, consecration occurring in 1978, and the bell tower completed as late as 1993.
The architecture of the church references both the distinctive light fixtures Aalto designed as well as the plywood furniture produced by his company Artek.
This rare volume, in Italian, features colour photography and detailed plans chronicling the construction process and end result of this iconic church.
